What you can do with ShopTorque

Mechanic shop software for everything a busy shop handles in a day — in plain language, on one screen.

Auto repair invoices with every fee done right

Labor, parts with matrix markup, sublet, shop supplies, hazardous-waste fees, discounts and separate tax rules for parts and labor — calculated as you type.

Fast estimates with line-by-line approval

Record who approved each line, how (in person, phone, text, email, online link, fleet PO) and when. Invoicing waits until every line is decided.

Digital vehicle inspections (33-point DVI)

Good / Soon / Now with measurements, notes and estimated prices. Push red and yellow findings onto the order and hand the customer a PDF report.

Appointments, bay board and one-click check-in

See the week, the bays and a live “now” line. Turn a booked appointment into a repair order with one click.

Technician time clock

Shift and job punches per labor line. Efficiency, productivity and labor cost for flat-rate and hourly pay plans.

Parts inventory, purchase orders, cores and returns

Bins, reorder points and a parts markup matrix. Business adds purchase orders with partial receiving, cores and returns.

Customers and vehicles: VIN decode and reminders

VIN check-digit validation and decode, plates, mileage, service history, warranty coverage and oil-change reminders by miles and months.

Reports and QuickBooks-ready accounting exports

Sales, gross profit, tech productivity, sales tax, A/R aging and end-of-day reports — PDF, Excel and CSV, plus QuickBooks IIF, QBO, QFX and OFX on Business.

How it works

  1. Set up your shop

Enter your labor rate, sales tax, shop supplies and parts markup once. Load sample data if you want to look around first.

  2. Write the work

Create the estimate, inspect the vehicle, get approval and move it to a repair order for the tech on the bay board.

  3. Get paid and close the books

Post the invoice, take payment and send your accountant QuickBooks-ready files — no retyping.

Frequently asked questions

What is auto repair shop management software?

It runs a shop’s daily work in one place: estimates, repair orders, invoices, appointments, technicians, parts and payments. ShopTorque also keeps the books and exports them to QuickBooks, Quicken and OFX.

How much does ShopTorque cost?

Pro is $89 a month ($890 a year) for shops with up to 3 technicians. Business is $159 a month ($1,590 a year) with unlimited technicians, purchase orders, cores and returns, and accounting-software exports. Every account starts with a 15-day trial with every feature and no card. There are only paid plans.

What happens when my trial ends, or if I cancel?

If you haven’t subscribed when the trial ends, your account becomes export-only: you can still sign in, download all of your data (CSV, Excel, PDF, QuickBooks, Quicken, OFX and a full JSON backup) or subscribe to pick up right where you left off. 7 days later the account and all of its data are permanently deleted. Cancelling a paid plan is one click on the Plan & billing page; you keep access to the end of the period you paid for, then the same 7-day export window applies.

What should an auto repair invoice include?

The customer and vehicle (VIN and mileage), the concern, cause and correction, labor, parts, sublet, shop supplies and fees, taxes and payments. ShopTorque builds the invoice from the repair order and produces a PDF.

What is a digital vehicle inspection (DVI)?

A checklist-based inspection that rates each item Good, Soon or Now, with measurements, notes and estimated prices. ShopTorque’s 33-point DVI pushes red and yellow findings onto the order for customer approval and prints a PDF report.

How do I track technician efficiency?

Compare flagged hours with clocked job hours. ShopTorque’s time clock records shift and job punches and reports efficiency, productivity and labor cost for flat-rate or hourly pay plans.

Does ShopTorque work with QuickBooks?

Yes, by export. Every plan exports Excel, CSV (including QuickBooks Online bank-upload files), PDF and a JSON backup. Business adds QuickBooks Desktop IIF files with invoices split into labor, parts, sublet, supplies and fees, plus QBO Web Connect, Quicken QFX and OFX files.

Can ShopTorque decode a VIN and track parts and cores?

Yes. It validates the 17-character VIN including the check digit, decodes the model year and maker, and can look up more from NHTSA’s free vPIC service. Parts inventory has bins and reorder points; Business adds purchase orders with partial receiving, cores from on hand to credited, and parts returns.
