  • Whisper runs on your own Mac: free, no account, and the sound never leaves your computer
  • Captions follow sentences, start when the person starts talking, and mark speaker changes with >>
  • Long recordings are split at quiet moments automatically, so hour-long files work

Songs & lyrics

  • Song mode pulls the lead vocal forward and skips instrumental parts
  • Paste Lyrics: paste your own lyrics and AutoCaption times every word to the audio

Edit & style

  • Fix words, type exact times, split, merge, or drag caption edges in the Caption lane

Opens your files

  • Audio: MP3, WAV, M4A and AIFF, shown as a moving waveform
  • Your captions are saved for each file: open it again and they come back
  • Import existing SRT or VTT files to edit them

  • Apple Speech as a second transcription engine
  • ElevenLabs Scribe transcription and Voiceover MP3, with your own ElevenLabs API key (paid by your own ElevenLabs account; only these send sound over the internet)
