RefuzionX Karaoke Studio
by Streetwise Software Online · SWSO
Karaoke on your Mac with music from Junction Underground Radio, the station of DJ RefuzionX. Pick a song, cut the lead vocal, sing through your microphone with reverb and echo, follow your lyrics on a full-screen stage and record your performance.
About the music
- The songs come from Junction Underground Radio, DJ RefuzionX's own station. The music belongs to DJ RefuzionX and Junction Underground Radio
- Songs stream from the station while you sing. They are never downloaded or saved on your Mac, so you need an internet connection to play them
- Search the station by song title, band or channel, and press Refresh to reload the station's list
- You can also add your own audio files from your Mac. They play from where they are; nothing is copied
What it does
Cut the lead vocal
- The VOCALS button cuts the lead vocal or brings it back
- Voice Control sets how strong the cut is: Light, Medium or Full
- Guide Vocal Level lets some of the original singer back in so you can follow along, and the vocal band can be Narrow, Normal or Wide
Your voice, your mix
- Switch on Mic to hear yourself, with Reverb, Echo, Delay and Chorus on your voice
- Balance sets the music against your vocals; Master and Mic Volume knobs
- Key/Pitch moves a song up or down 12 semitones without changing speed, and Tempo runs 50 to 150% without changing the key
- An 8-band equalizer, ±12 dB
Lyrics and Stage Mode
- Load your own lyrics: synced .lrc files or plain .txt
- Sync −/+ buttons fix lyrics that run early or late; click any synced line to jump there
- Stage Mode fills the screen with the current line in giant letters and a color wipe that follows the singing
Record your performance
- Record captures what you hear, your voice with effects plus the backing track, as an .m4a file
- Takes are saved in Music › RefuzionX Karaoke Studio › Performances
- Each take is named with the date and time, so nothing is overwritten
Also included
- Options for Auto Play Next Song, Fade Out End, Background Video (animated stage lights) and Fullscreen Mode
- Dark chrome color themes from the Theme menu, and interface zoom from 85% to 200%
- Keyboard shortcuts for play and pause, skipping, VOCALS, the mic, recording and Stage Mode
- Built-in Help (Help menu) with getting started, vocals, knobs and EQ, your own songs, lyrics, microphone, recording, Stage Mode, shortcuts and licensing
Good to know: the vocal cut removes sound that is the same in both speakers inside the vocal band. Vocal reverb and doubled vocals spread across the stereo field can still be faintly heard, centred instruments in the same range (like a snare or lead synth) are turned down too, and mono songs can't be separated. Use headphones so the speakers don't feed back into the microphone.
