Landscape design & build services in Grand Junction, CO Six disciplines, one studio.

We are designers who build and builders who design. Keeping both under one roof means the drawing you approve is the garden you get, with no surprises between the plan and the crew.

Landscape design

Site plan drawing with patio, path, trees and planting beds

Measured site plans, planting plans and 3D studies drawn for the way you live outside.

We start with a full site survey: sun and shade through the seasons, drainage, soil, views toward the Monument or the Bookcliffs, and how you actually move through the yard. From there we draw a master plan, a planting plan and a lighting plan you can build all at once or in phases.

  • On-site survey and soil test
  • Concept plan with two layout options
  • Final planting, irrigation and lighting plans
  • Material and plant schedule with budget
Timeline
3–5 weeks

Native plant gardens

Firecracker penstemon, blanketflower and yellow rabbitbrush blooming among river rock and silver sage

Layered, four-season planting built on Colorado natives and proven high-desert performers.

Our planting palettes lean on species that already thrive between the Colorado River and the Grand Mesa: blue grama, penstemon, Apache plume, rabbitbrush and globemallow. We layer them for structure in winter, color from April to October, and a steady hum of pollinators.

  • Soil preparation and amendment
  • Plant sourcing from regional growers
  • Gravel, rock or wood mulch top dressing
  • Establishment watering schedule

1–3 weeks on site

Planting from $14 per sq ft

Flagstone patios, boulders & hardscape

People setting sandstone boulders and planting native shrubs with a wheelbarrow on a desert site

Hand-set flagstone, sculptural boulders, steel edging and seat walls that anchor the garden.

We set Colorado buff and Oak Creek flagstone on a compacted base so it stays level through freeze and thaw. Boulders are chosen in person at the yard and placed by our own crew, buried a third deep so they look like they have always been there.

  • Dry-laid or mortared flagstone patios
  • Boulder selection and placement
  • Fire pit and seat wall builds
  • Steel edging and decomposed granite paths
Timeline
1–4 weeks on site

Patios from $28 per sq ft

Drip irrigation

Zoned, low-flow drip systems with smart controllers that water roots, not sidewalks.

Every plant gets its own emitters sized to its needs, on zones grouped by water use. We pair the system with a weather-aware smart controller so watering adjusts itself through spring winds, July heat and the first October freeze.

  • Hydrozone design by plant water need
  • Pressure regulation and filtration
  • Smart weather-based controller
  • Spring start-up and fall winterization

Outdoor lighting

Backyard at blue hour with shielded path lights, a glowing fire pit and uplit desert willows

Warm, low-glare landscape lighting that respects dark skies and makes the yard usable after sunset.

We light paths, steps, boulders and specimen trees with warm, fully shielded LED fixtures, keeping light low and pointed down so the stars over the Grand Valley stay visible. Everything runs on timers and astronomical clocks, so it just works.

  • Lighting design and night mock-up
  • Shielded, warm-white LED fixtures
  • Path, step and uplighting
  • Timer or app control

Turf-to-xeric conversions

Split plan comparing a sprinkler-watered lawn with a gravel and native plant xeriscape

Replace thirsty bluegrass with a living, water-wise landscape that needs far less supplemental water.

Kentucky bluegrass in Grand Junction can need close to 30 inches of supplemental water a year. We remove the turf, rebuild the soil and replant with natives on drip; by general estimates that can save around 12 to 15 gallons per square foot each year, depending on how the lawn was watered. We also help you document the project for any water-provider rebate programs available at your address.

  • Turf removal and responsible disposal
  • Soil rebuild and grading
  • New native planting on drip
  • Before-and-after square footage and plant list

07Turf-to-xeric

The lawn you mow is the water you lose.

A typical Grand Valley front lawn drinks tens of thousands of gallons every summer. Converting it is one of the biggest water-saving moves a homeowner can make, and it does not have to look sparse. Our conversions are layered, green-silver and full of flowers.

09Questions

Before you call.

Is there a xeriscape company near me in Fruita, Palisade or Clifton?

Yes. Our studio is in Grand Junction, and we design and build across the Grand Valley: the Redlands, Fruita, Palisade, Clifton, Orchard Mesa, Whitewater and Glade Park.

Is xeriscape just rocks and cactus?

Not the way we do it. Xeriscape simply means landscaping designed to need little supplemental water. Our gardens are full of grasses, perennials and flowering shrubs; gravel is a mulch, not the main event.

How much does a front-yard xeriscape cost?

It depends on size, stone and lighting. As a guide, native planting starts from $14 per square foot, lawn conversions from $12 and flagstone patios from $28. The $150 consultation ends with a realistic range before any design fee is spent.

Can you fix or upgrade the drip irrigation I already have?

Often, yes. We check existing drip systems, replace failed emitters and valves, regroup zones by plant water need and can add a smart controller. Connections to your home's water supply follow your water provider's backflow rules.

Will my new garden need much maintenance?

Less than a lawn: no mowing and no weekly sprinkler schedule. Plan on a spring cut-back of grasses and perennials, a fall check of the drip system, and some weeding while plants fill in. We offer seasonal care visits if you prefer.
